Fringe ford is far far from the madding crowd. It is 268 km from Bangalore. We drove from Bangalore to Wyanad. The drive was beautiful and the roads very good. It helped that we drove in July when the weather was cool and pleasant. The Manager Anil of Fringe ford met us at a particular place and then drove us in a jeep to Fringe Ford almost 5 Km from civilisation down a bumpy narrow track.
Fringe ford is not a resort but two small units housing five rooms with attached baths. The rooms are simply furnished and the bathrooms clean. The food is home cooked simple fare. The place is located in an idyllic spot and all you hear is the waterfall, the cicadas and the occasional warning of a deer or monkey. We had a huge Bison visit us at 10 feet away from where we were on both the days we were at Fringe Ford.
There is a great opportunity for forest treks to view animals in their natural habitat. We went in July 2015 it rained a lot and we were beseiged by LEECHES do not go during the monsoon time because you cannot walk in the forest without getting feasted on by the Leeches.
Ahmed the owner of the place is a pleasant young man quite passionate about the environment. We had a problem with our car while returning and Anil went out of his way to help. Ahmed assured us if Anil was on the job it was as good as done. High praise indeed. Shaji the young guide and naturalist is a font of valuable information.
